Technology in the Fight Against B-B Gift Card Fraud

 A panel of technology experts representing different sectors of the incentive gift card industry will share their thoughts on trends and best practices in the fight against fraud.  Learn about technology tools and resources to aid in activities like vetting new accounts, and guarding against account takeover and counterfeit gift cards.  Panelists will also share their thoughts on what can be done to better fight fraud as an industry by sharing information and lessons learned, and how to best utilize law enforcement when fraud does occur.

Chris Falk - CTO, Buyatab Online Inc.

 Mr. Falk has over two decades of experience in the technology sector, spanning a wide breadth of commercial applications, including energy trading, forestry management, consumer retail and financial services. Drawing on his experience as an application and enterprise architect, Mr. Falk has served in senior technology management roles for the past 16 years focusing on business and technology alignment. A veteran of many different compliance efforts, he also brings a strong background in implementing modern product management and technology management techniques while maintaining compliance with industry regulatory standards. Mr. Falk holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Victoria.

     
   

 Kyle Olds - Director of IT, Tango Card

 Kyle Olds is the Director of Operations and Security at Tango Card, the best source of B2B digital incentives. He has more than 18 years of experience in the technology world, having held roles at Infospace, Widemile, Marchex, F5 Networks, Savvis/CenturyLink, and MasterCard International. Although he has focused mainly in internet and internet based businesses, Kyle has a wide scope of roles including Systems, Infrastructure Development, Application Development, Security and Architecture. 

     
   

 Brian Snodgrass - Director of IT, Great Lakes Scrip Center

 Brian Snodgrass is Director of IT for Great Lakes Scrip Center, one of the nation’s largest gift card sellers.  Brian servers as a member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for all aspects of information technology.  He ensures the IT strategic direction and initiatives deliver highly available, reliable and secure business applications and services that drive the business to its goals.  He has successfully led new web, mobile, and fraud prevention solution development while driving the IT culture towards continuous delivery.  For 2 years, Brian also served Director of Operations leading the fulfillment and facilities business areas before returning to solely to IT with a strong focus on business development and fraud prevention.  

Brian has a BS in Management Information Systems and Accountancy from Miami University, and MBA from the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza School of Business.  

     

 

 

 Eric Thiegs - President, National Gift Card Corp.

 As part of the executive leadership team at National Gift Card Corp., Eric is responsible for overseeing the staff and resources for the Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and Merchant Partnerships departments. This includes servicing NGC's 350+ merchant relationships and 2,000+ B2B clients who purchase gift cards or use NGC's gift card fulfillment services.

 Thiegs is a 15+ year veteran of the gift card program / reward and loyalty program arenas, having worked as a Senior Account Executive for five years on Visa Rewards at Carlson Marketing Group (now AIMIA), five years as the Director of Partnership Marketing at Access Development, a year as head of accounts for a branding/PR/marketing agency, and four years running his own partnership agency, Stage of Life LLC, as a consultant for loyalty program clients in the mobile, financial institution, and non-profit sectors.

     

 

 

Jeremy Ward - Manager of Security and Compliance, CashStar

Jeremy Ward serves as the Manager of Security and Compliance at CashStar, the leading provider provider of prepaid commerce solutions for retailers and restaurants. He has more than 15 years of technology and information security experience from work with Fairchild Semiconductor, WEX Inc., and Procter & Gamble. In addition to being a Certified Information Systems Security Professional he holds multiple degrees from Northeastern University in Philosophy, Physics, and Computer Science.

     

 

 

Daniel Maddox - Vice President Product and Architecture, Stored Value Solutions

Daniel has over 20 years of experience as an Information Technology professional, and has spent the last 13 years helping to elevate SVS as a leader in the stored value industry. Daniel is responsible for the architecture and software product development within the organization. As a payments industry veteran, Daniel also plays a key role in SVS’ consultative program management strategy and developing customized stored value solutions for the world's best retailers
